i am just going to give a brief background on myself and my hobbies and interests. I am 20 years of age. I am in college in limerick Institute of technology. I am studying business and sports. my love for sports really encouraged me to choose this course. As part of one of my modules we have been given an assignment. The assignment asks us to set up our own webpage about something of interest to us. As I love sport, it was always going to be the topic of choice. I play both hurling and soccer. I have lived in Borrisoleigh practically all my life. Borrisoleigh is a small town in North Tipperary with a huge hurling tradition. Basically as soon as you can walk, you are given a Hurley. Borrisoleigh has produced some wonderful hurlers over the years including Liam Devaney, Bobby Ryan and Brendan maher (all of whom have captained Tipperary to all-ireland glory) and as you’re growing up and training with the club, you are always reminded of the great players and the rich history of the club. Every young kid growing up wants to be the next star and I feel that is what motivates us to keep training and keep playing hurling day in and day out. as for soccer , it probably isn’t as big in north Tipperary as it is in the south of tipp or other parts of Ireland such as limerick and Dublin. I still love soccer but it doesn’t come close to hurling in my eyes. I play with a local team just 15 minutes away. We don’t take it too seriously and this suits me a lot. I love kicking around and it is a great way to get that extra bit fitter for the hurling. as you get older, the gym becomes an essential part of sport, so i plan on giving some health and fitness tips n tricks. i hope you really enjoy my page and find it interesting and helpful

Just do it
Most gyms are closed and not everyone has a full set of workout equipment or elaborate machines lying around in their home. But there are plenty of exercises to do with common household items or no equipment at all that will keep you in shape while we’re stuck indoors.
Side plank — Lie on your side with your feet together, raising your body off the ground with your hand or forearm. Focusing on your core, raise your hips until your body is in a straight line and hold. Most ab workouts can be done with no equipment necessary, making it the perfect workout to do at home.
Push-ups — A classic chest workout, push-ups are ideal for a home workout. For an easier push-up, try it on your knees. Or for a more difficult push-up, fill up a school bag and try it with the bag on your back.
You can perform most arm workouts at home if you have any kind of weights in your house. From bicep curls, tricep extensions and shoulder presses. If you have no weights in your home, household objects can work just as well in times of desperation. Water bottles, sacks of dog food, backpacks, and canned foods can all work as the perfect makeshift weight for different types of exercises
Squats– Use your own body weight or add suitable weighted objects to perform a few squats and keep your legs in good shape. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and engage your core. Bend your knees until your thighs are parallel to the ground and lower your body, focusing on your hamstrings and hips. Then slowly come back to an upright position.

Eat right and exercise!
For this entry I am going to talk about our countries obesity problem. Ireland is en route to be Europe’s most obese country by 2030. I find this to be absolutely embarrassing! I blame the advancements in technology for this shocking stat. If we gave children less access to iPads and iPhones and sent them outside to do some physical activity it would play a vital role in battling obesity Physical activity or sport can play a major part in improving the state of this country’s weight problem. There should be more education provided for children and young adults about what amount of exercise they should be doing. national recommended guidelines on physical activity for Ireland adopted the world health organisations (WHO) recommendations on physical activity for health. The recommendations are as follows:

Children and young people (aged 2-17)
People in this category should be active at a moderate to vigorous intensity for at least 60 minutes, 7 days per week
Adults (aged 18-64)
People in this category should be active at a moderate intensity for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days per week
Older people (aged 65 +)
People in this category should also be active for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week but at a slightly less strenuous level to people in the category above
However, recent research has indicated that practically all the profits of resistance training can be obtained through two 15-20 minute training sessions per week. Exact controlled movements for all the major muscles groups is essential for resistance training. We believe that resistance training should be a primary constituent of any public health promotion campaign.
So if 20 minute session twice a week is all we need? Why can’t we do it! Surely we are not that busy that we can’t afford to give up 40 minutes a week! Especially seeing as we have nothing but spare time at the moment. In my next post I’m gonna to show ye different exercises ye can try and you all will have those beach bods in no time
Introduction
Hi all, I hope you guys are keeping well and more importantly isolated during this global pandemic that we are all enduring at the moment.
Right now is about weathering the storm and doing your part as an individual to ensure we as a society get through this. Make sure you look out for opportunities even through this unique time. Whether that be spending quality time with family, catching up on school work, making money or, like myself, doing that extra bit of gym work to get in shape. It can be a testing time for your body, both mentally and physically, so I feel exercising in isolation is essential, as well as getting good quality sleep and eating nutritious grub (and avoiding boredom eating)
I’m going to be here every step of the way and try to provide informative content that you yourself can use or do at home. Remember to think of this period as a glass half full rather than a glass half empty. Make the most of it. Don’t let yourself use it as an excuse to become a couch potatoe but most importantly mind yourself and others, not everyone might find it as easy as you do or vice versa so communication with people is vital if we are all to make it through this
